I designed a box trying to limit screen time.
This assignment reminds me of a project I did last year. I designed this installation, a box that can stop the user from picking up the phone.
This is a box with an opening window on the top of it. In the box, there is an Arduino with a photocell and speaker. As the phone is placed on the box, the amount of light on the photocell is low, so the speaker is mute. But when I pick up my phone, the light shines on the photocell, and the speaker starts to make noises.
The noise the speaker makes will be more and more intolerable, pushing the user to place the phone back to the top of the box.
In the previous project, I made an awful box with cardboard and tape, so I plan to redesign it and add more functions.
The box has two parts. The upper box is where to put the phone. It has those gaps on the side so the user can pick up or charge the phone. The lower box is where to put the Arduino and wires. It is a little bit larger than the upper box so that the upper box can sit inside of it.
